A directory of grief support resources organized by US state. This page is built as a working reference for therapists, social workers, healthcare professionals, hospice programs, and grieving families looking for local bereavement resources. Each state section lists the major nonprofit organizations, the regional grief-counseling programs, the children's bereavement camps, the widow/widower support groups, and the hospice bereavement programs that offer free or sliding-scale support. Updated quarterly.

Disclaimer (important)

This directory is editorial and is not a substitute for clinical care. The resources below are nonprofit and community-based grief support organizations, not licensed therapists. If you are experiencing complicated grief or prolonged grief disorder, a licensed mental-health professional is the appropriate resource. The American Psychological Association (locator.apa.org) maintains a national locator for licensed psychologists. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (afsp.org) maintains resources specifically for those bereaved by suicide.
